Where are they now?

I coached Justin, founder of the done-for-you video editing service Video Husky in 2018.

He sprinted hard towards $1MM in ARR (and made it) but got sideswiped by COVID.

One of Justin’s best traits is that he makes decisions that suit his personal goals, regardless of what conventional wisdom says. Here’s a list from our interview:

• over-invested early - spending $60k (!) on a website to boost conversions

• onboarded both good and bad fit customers to recoup marketing expense

• had his staff vote in a 20% pay cut, rather than more layoffs during COVID

• hired a General Manager and stepped back from the business in 2021

• moonlighted in coaching, but didn’t love it so helped his uncle instead

• is now learning to code and gearing up for an AI opportunity

He collects profit from his business and has time freedom. It’s not the path for all, but he’s made it work and I’m very proud that I got to help him set the foundation in the early days.
